Aerators
To help your soil conditioning, we offer two classes of Aerators - core plugger & spike aerator. Each is available in Compact or Commercial models. Size can range from 3’-15+ and either has several travel options.

Why Aerate?
When soil is exposed to rain & sun for years and years, it naturally compacts & hardens.
When soil is cultivated to control weeds or prepare for planting, the soil is vulnerable to erosion from wind and rain. This also destroys the organic compost process, resulting in the need for more chemicals & fertilizers.
Repeated passes by heavy tractors and equipment lead to soil degeneration and to the formation of almost impenetrable layers of compacted soil ("hard pan") below the surface.
When soil is compacted and a "hard pan" forms; helpful soil microbes and earthworms are reduced or eliminated, pastures dry out faster, become waterlogged quicker and plant growth is restricted; resulting in lower crop and pasture yields.
Regular aeration enhances soil health by improving fertilizer, lime, & nutrient absorption. It helps control pH level, reduces water runoff & puddling, relieves soil compaction, enhances air/water absorption & root explanation. Greatly improves overseeing results.
3-pt Hitch vs Pull-Tongue:
33-pt hitch offers “quick lift & go”, and it's easier to maneuver in tight spaces. But if you're going over the rolling ground, when tractor tires are lower than the rear, the packer could lift a little providing less compaction.
Pull-tongue “floats” better and provides more uniform compaction on uneven ground. But, it's more cumbersome if move from one field/plot to another some distance away. Another disadvantage is if you need to back into narrow paths/coves. The 3-pt hitch is easily lifted, back up, drop, and pull out. Pull-tongue will likely be more of a challenge.
Best of both worlds – We offer a series II unit that has a 3-pt hitch & removable pull-tongue. This unit will last for decades, so the $150 option will give you versatility for years to come. Your tractor or property may chance, but your ole Custom Cultipacker will still be in service.
Core-Pluggers
The ATV weight Core-Pluggers are commercial-quality strong, but still light enough for heavy mowers or ATVs. The frames are made from 2 ½” angle iron that is 3/8” thick. Extra cross-bracing and laser-cut bearing plates ensure smooth operation and durably. The 8” harden spoons (tines) are mounted to a ¼” plate and ride on a 1 ¾” solid steel axle for smooth operation and durability. The axle is held by two 4-bolt flange bearings. The ¼” thick tongue is available with ball-hitch or drop-pin. Typically ranging from 4’ – 8’, they are available with the travel options listed below.
HD Core-Pluggers is built on a thick-wall 10” drum & a 3x5 rectangular tube frame. The 10” drum with 8" hardened steel spoons (tines) are hollow and tapered, designed to remove a ½” diameter x 6” deep plug to maximize effectiveness. The removable spoons are mounted on a flange to provide a sturdy, functional Aerator with a total 28” diameter. Available with pull-tongue, 3-pt hitch or frontend loader QA, and with the travel options listed below.
Our frames are strong, the quality bearings are greasable, the drum has a plug to permit adding/removing water for added weight, and the 2" solid steel axle provides durability and smooth operation. Standard units will weigh appx 100lbs per ft (dry).
For traveling, our “flip-over” or “manual-lift” units come with 2000lb spindles & hubs, and 12" wheels/tires. Either is strong & durable, and gives you a convenient way of transporting from food-plot to food-plot, or to a different property. It also allows you to lift the unit off the ground when stored.
“Flip-over” models are available in 10” drum only, and sizes up to 6’.
For 10” or 16” drum units, the “manual-lift” travel system eliminates the need to disconnect & flip to travel. We use an 8k jack to make lifting easier & quicker.
Hydraulic units come with new hoses & quick-connects. Everything you need to hit the field. Your unit will have 3500lb spindles & hubs, bearings, and 15" wheels/tires.

Spike-Aerators
Commercial Grade Spike-Aerators are built with 1 3/4" solid steel axle and quality grease-able bearings. The frames are made from 2 ½” angle iron that is 3/8” thick. Extra cross-bracing and laser-cut bearing plates ensure smooth operation and durably. Available with the travel options listed below.
Riding on a solid 1 ¾” axle & supported by two quality bearings, the 19” spike-drum has a plug to permit adding/removing water for added weight – increasing the dry weight from appx 85lbs per foot to appx 120lbs per ft when filled.
Designed to punch 4.5” x 2” holes to maximize effectiveness. The 4.5” long solid spikes are 3/8” thick and mounted to a thick-wall 10 ¾ inch drum & a 1 ¾” to provide max weight & durability. Available as pull-tongue and/or 3-pt hitch or front-end loader QA. Available with the travel options listed below.
HD Commercial Grade Spike-Aerators is built on a 3/8” thick, 16” diameter drum. The 2" solid steel axle is supported by quality grease-able bearings. Depending on size, the frame may be built with 3x5, 4x6, or 6x8” rectangular tubing with cross-bracing and gusset supports as necessary to ensure exceptional strength, smooth operation and durably.
The 27” spike-drum has a plug to permit adding/removing water for added weight – increasing the dry weight from appx 130lbs per foot to appx 175lbs per ft when filled.
Designed to punch 4.5” x 2” holes to maximize effectiveness. The 4.5” long solid spikes are 1/2” thick. Available as a pull-tongue, 3pt hitch or frontend loader QA. Available with manual-lift or hydraulic travel systems.
